respect for truth and the public's right to know...
Mahirap gawin pero bilang kristyano, 'we should still give them the benefit of the doubt'.

In Fairness!
I just really don't understand why when I hear the word media, something not so positive comes to my mind. Maybe because I allowed my thoughts to be influenced by ideas which I must admit, I myself have no concrete proofs.Since I was young, I was made to understand that media people especially those making commentaries are driven by this thing called bribery. I just can't explain in details but that is how i view them, that they are just tackling issues in the favor of parties who can give & have the "highest bid". But in fairness, I'm proud to note also that our Mediamen nowadays have proven their worth in bringing fair information useful to the people. I know the role that they play is not an easy job and in this present times their services are really indispensable! Maybe we have to accept the fact that just like other fields, there are always blackships. For example, in the countryside, there are those people who claimed to be responsible mediamen with nothing but only pens and notebook on hand. I guess this what makes our Philippine tri-media unique! I believe that whatever role we chose to play in this country of ours, we have the sacred obligation not to take for granted responsibility, credibility and integrity. Our mediamen need these!

Do they do a good job?

Calling for Entries for Agriculture Journalism
The Philippine’s premiere agriculture journalism awards is once again seeking out the country’s best agriculture-themed stories. The second annual Philip Morris’ Bright Leaf Agriculture Journalism awards is open to the very best news and feature stories from all over the country. Journalists are invited to submit their works by the May 6, 2008 deadline.
Open to all amateur and professional Filipino journalists who are 18 years old and older, the Bright Leaf Awards recognizes and celebrates the efforts of those who are dedicated to covering one of the country’s primary industries. Entries are accepted across a variety of categories. Professional and amateur print journalists are invited to submit their best news and feature articles for contention. A separate category for agriculture-themed photographs is open to the country’s photojournalists. Finally, broadcast journalists can submit their most well-reported agriculture stories in the Radio and TV categories. All entries must focus on topics related to agriculture in the Philippines.
Submitted works should showcase journalistic talent, passion, and dedication to giving fair and accurate coverage of Philippine agricultural issues. Entries can be in English, Filipino or any Philippine dialect.
The Bright Leaf Awards also aims to promote agricultural development and sustainability in the Philippines.
The first Bright Leaf Awards, which was held last year, drew hundreds of entries and yielded a top-notch roster of winners who continue to influence the field of agriculture journalism.
