The peso to the dollar actually changed for the worst when GMA came into power. Before it was below the P50 to the $1 mark. And despite GMA's promise not to breach it to the P54 mark, it was done courtesy of the good economist, GMA.
In real terms, it can be worse than this simple dollar to the peso exchange rate - as a barometer of economic condition.
Peso is now getting stronger, as of today its about 1$ = Php40.50 but it doesn't change anything, prices of gasoline and other major comodities are still increasing while the salary increase is still pending. What a life!
