Why this Russian roulette?
Why this Russian roulette?
It has become increasingly clear that most versions of PNP after every so-called armed ‘encounters’ they find themselves involved in are merely built on self-extricating scenarios backed up by planted evidence ranging from bullets, packets of shabu, assorted car plates, guns, incriminating documents and paraphernalia, whatever. And as soon as investigation is done, PNP’s brazen lies or claims are proven to the contrary. This has become vicious on the part of PNP and this presents clear and present danger to the populace. Such fits of lunacy if not psychosis must be put to an end. Two most recent incidents are worth meditating on.
First, an innocent individual cruising along Pasig was fired upon by M16 armalite rifles puncturing holes on every part of the moving car. Luckily, that certain ‘Mr. Clarito’ who identified himself as vice president of a company has cheated death and had only minor gunshot wounds. Did you hear the explanation issued by the police? PNP said a prior chase precedes this incident. It is grossly untenable even irrational for the PNP to just automatically shoot at the first car that appears on sight on unvalidated belief that it was the commandeered car. Thus, Mr. Clarito was fired upon with PNP even saying that he should have slowed down or stopped than sped away. How on hell would the man know that he is being flagged down by the PNP? When did it become strange that cars pass the road at every given moment? The alibi issued by the PNP just cannot hold water. Thus the PNP operatives involved in this case must be dealt with severely – with no less than dismissal from the service deemed in order.
This brings us to the moral, legal, judicial question on whether an ambulant patrol car of the PNP can just flag down, follow, run after, chase, fire upon any private vehicle moving on the highway. What kind of a Russian roulette was that which nearly snatch off the life of an innocent Mr. Clarito? There was no evidence whatsoever that could possibly make the official PNP claim stand on two legs. The PNP cannot just play god with our lives as to just say sorry for firing upon us when we are not the real target – case of ordinary mistake. That alone reflects what kind of intelligence work the PNP is (un)able to achieve.
Second, the case of party-list representative Rep. Hontiveros, who on the occasion of the International Women’s Day celebrated with her fellow women, risked herself being arrested against her will – by force taken from the crowd, led and shoved to a waiting car, brought to Camp Karingal for questioning. What was the official PNP claim as belied by the victim herself? That Rep. Hontiveros is merely being taken from harm’s way because she may be hurt by the crowd. What kind of unthinking is this? Who would believe that kind of crop? It is irrational to suppose that the crowd where she belongs would be the pack that would hurt her as they are her comrades – fellow women activists. So what kind of foolish if stupid claim was that officially issued by the dreaded PNP? In what strange clime and moral threshold have we now found ourselves in? Is there a new legal order that all of us must subscribe to?
The footage is too disconcerting. A congresswoman at that can no longer be accorded due courtesy by the PNP that should protect these inviolable rights. Besides, why should the PNP give the instructions to subordinates at the lowest levels of the hierarchy when mid-level officers are required under the situation? At the very least, a police director or superintendent should be on sight and the one to accost the congresswoman where they want to take her. It is so because the ‘foot soldiers’ are dumb followers of even unlawful orders. This phenomenon in the PNP should be junked. Don’t we have career professionals in the PNP who know their job and can explain properly what the reason for arrest is than issue nonsensical statements, dumb stares, and unsettling improprieties.
There is reason for the citizens of this republic to be vigilant. The PNP is suffering from fits of moral schizophrenia with uncontrollable hostility that knows no frontiers. The PNP is a sickening picture of oppression, suppression, and repression and the very institution reposed with the protection of our rights is itself the perpetrator of violence, crime, and untold atrocity. The top brass in the PNP hierarchy must now be brought to the nearest hospital for psychiatric treatment that they may be rehabilitated back to normal – as decent, proper, sober, freedom loving segment of society.
